چکیده

The focus of our effort has been to develop quantum information processing technologies based on a solid-state cavity QED platform consisting of quantum dots in photonic crystals. The main goals that we have accomplished include: 1. Study of the ultrafast dynamics of the quantum dot-cavity QED system [Majumdar et al., Phys. Rev. A, 2012], and ultrafast switching between two single photon pulses mediated by the quantum dot-photonic crystal cavity QED system [Englund et al., Phys. Rev. Letters, 2012] 2. Probing the ladder of dressed states in the solid state cavity QED system [Majumdar et al, Physical Review A, 2012] 3. Study of the off-resonant quantum dot-cavity coupling in solid-state cavity QED system, and the phonon mediated off-resonant interaction between two quantum dots [Majumdar et al., Physical Review B , 2012] 4. Coherent optical spectroscopy of a single quantum dot via an off-Resonant cavity much simpler than in conventional approaches [Majumdar et al, Physical Review B, 2011; Papageorge et al., New. Journal of Physics, 2011] 5. Study of the cavity QED with a quantum dot coupled to a photonic molecule [Majumdar et al., Phys. Rev. B, 2012] 6. Study of the effect of photo-generated carriers on the spectral diffusion of a quantum dot coupled to a photonic crystal cavity [Majumdar et al., Physical Review B, 2011] (a) Papers published in peer-reviewed journals (N/A for none) Enter List of papers submitted or published that acknowledge ARO support from the start of the project to the date of this printing. Planar Photonic Crystal Nanocavities with Active Quantum Nanostructures

Extreme photon localization is applicable to constructing building blocks in photonic systems and quantum information systems. A finding fact that photon localization in small space modifies the radiation process was reported in 1944 by Purcell, and advances in fabrication technology enable such structures to be constructed at optical frequencies. Many demands of building compact photonic syste...

Cavity quantum electrodynamics with a single quantum dot coupled to a photonic molecule

We demonstrate the effects of cavity quantum electrodynamics for a quantum dot coupled to a photonic molecule consisting of a pair of coupled photonic crystal cavities. We show anticrossing between the quantum dot and the two supermodes of the photonic molecule, signifying achievement of the strong coupling regime. From the anticrossing data, we estimate the contributions of both mode-coupling ...

Differential reflection spectroscopy of a single quantum dot strongly coupled to a photonic crystal cavity

We demonstrate the use of periodically modulated Coulomb shifts in quantum dot QD transition energies to obtain differential reflection spectra of a photonic crystal nanocavity containing strongly coupled dots. Measured spectra isolate the change in the empty cavity optical reflectivity spectrum due to the presence of each dot. This technique permits the probing of coupled QD-cavity systems pos...

Resonant excitation of a quantum dot strongly coupled to a photonic crystal nanocavity.

We describe the resonant excitation of a single quantum dot that is strongly coupled to a photonic crystal nanocavity. The cavity represents a spectral window for resonantly probing the optical transitions of the quantum dot. We observe narrow absorption lines attributed to the single and biexcition quantum dot transitions and measure antibunched population of the detuned cavity mode [g{(2)}(0)...

Spin–cavity interactions between a quantum dot molecule and a photonic crystal cavity

The integration of InAs/GaAs quantum dots into nanophotonic cavities has led to impressive demonstrations of cavity quantum electrodynamics. However, these demonstrations are primarily based on two-level excitonic systems. Efforts to couple long-lived quantum dot electron spin states with a cavity are only now succeeding. Here we report a two-spin-cavity system, achieved by embedding an InAs qu...
